Gift Ideas for Parents & In-Laws

When I asked you all what gifts you needed help with this year, the most common responses were gift ideas for parents & in-laws and gift ideas for men. So I pulled together a list of items that I’ve either gifted to my parents/in-laws in the past or thought about gifting below. I always like to pair a large gift with a smaller one as I feel like it pulls the gift together and shows thoughtfulness, so I included a few options that you can plus up your gifts with too (of course, you can always gift on their own).

For parents who are busy bees

  • Nespresso: If there is one thing that you can count on me always raving about, it’s this machine. I’ve saved SO much money thanks to this beauty and the coffee is better than any coffee maker I’ve tried (and trust me, I’ve tried them all – Keurig, fancy Mr. Coffee, french press). If your parents or in-laws love coffee, this is one gift they’ll love more than anything – and it’s currently on sale! If you want to plus up this gift without spending too much, pair it with a canister of sugar and your favorite creamer!
  • Clear Mugs: I LOVE the look of clear mugs. They always remind me of being at my grandparent’s house in Poland and I feel like they just have a sophisticated look to them. I also love watching my Nespresso coffee brew and seeing the froth at the top šŸ™‚
  • Notepad: Love this dual to-do & to-buy notepad! Something they can both use and add to throughout the week.

For parents who love to host

  • Cedar Planks: These are affordable, come in a set of four, and can be used for cooking and serving. If you just wanted to give these as a gift, you can plus them up with some cooking spices!
  • Portable Waterproof Speaker: We got this portable speaker for Ryan’s dad last year, and he uses it almost daily! It’s great for entertaining and also to take to the beach, on hikes, road trips, and BBQs. Love that it’s small and compact and something that can be used year-round.
  • Magnetic Beer Strip: I thought this was so cool when I saw it – helps keep the fridge organized while also displaying the beer in a neat way – win for the dad and mom! Pair it with a case of beer.

For the parents in need of a little R&R

  • Slippers for Her: I got these a few months back and they are the comfiest slippers I own. So cozy, soft because of the memory foam, and warm. They have nearly 15K positive reviews on Amazon!
  • Slippers for Him: Lined with memory foam and are slide-on so you don’t have to worry about them being uncomfortable, or rubbing on the back of your foot!
  • Heated Back Massager: I got this for my parents last year and we were all taking turns using it on Christmas Day (we’re Polish so we open our gifts on Christmas Eve). It’s super easy-to-use, heated, and is the perfect gift for anyone who hasn’t gotten a massage in a while.

For the parents who love to garden

  • Indoor Garden: Ryan actually found this one and I think it’s perfect for anyone that has a passion for gardening, but can’t do it year-round because of the weather (aka lives in the Midwest). This has gotten rave reviews and comes with a little seed starting kit – grows everything from herbs to tomatoes. The best part (at least in my opinion)? No dirt required!
  • Copper Watering Can: The most aesthetically pleasing watering can I’ve ever seen. They can use this to water their potted plans indoors during the winter! Pair with a set of herb seeds, or these pretty pruners.
  • Herb Saver: Speaking of herbs, love this idea of making your herbs last even longer because mine always go bad SO quickly. Pair with this handy herb cutter that takes off the stems in seconds.

For the parents that double as home chefs

  • Recipe Stand: My mom always whips out the family cookbook come the holidays and it always seems like it’s in the way surrounded by piles of flour and dishes. Love that this stand is a cutting board and also serves a purpose to make sure the book stays in tack for generations to come! Pair with a personalized cookbook with her favorite recipes to make it even more special!
  • Instant Pot: An essential for quick meals and cooking that is the perfect gift in 2020 for anyone that doesn’t have one yet! Pair with the book below!
  • One-Pot Recipes Cookbook: A book full of endless dinner ideas when they’re stuck on what to eat for dinner (aka me every night!).

For the parents that love their glass of wine

  • Fancy Wine Glasses: My friend has these and I absolutely love them! The shape is so unique and classy and it can be used for all types of wine. I want these for myself!
  • Wine Cooler: Another gift that’s on my list as well! Such a great gift that looks beautiful in person. Pair with a bottle of nice wine to gift. This would also be great as a hostess gift too!
  • Platter and Boards Cookbook: My friend has this book and I end up flipping through it every time I’m over at her house. If your parents love a good cheese board, this is the book for them. Pair with a nice cheese board so they can start styling asap.
