Father’s Day Gift Guide

You guys, I cannot believe that we’re already half-way through June and that Father’s Day is this weekend! If you haven’t gotten your dad a gift yet, there’s still time. Here are a few gift ideas for every type of dad and ways to spice them up a bit.

Pimp his ride: Has your dad ever filled up your gas tank, or taken your car to the car wash? Before I sold my car, my dad used to do this for me at least once a month (he still does it for my mom and sister)! It’s the sweetest surprise and makes the best start to your morning. For a special touch, leave a travel mug with a $5 gift card to his favorite coffee shop so he has everything he needs to have the best day!

Dad’s Stache: Another great gift is to start his own piggy bank fund! My dad always talks about all this stuff he wants to do and vacations he wants to go on, so for his birthday last month, I started his very own savings jar. What’s great about this is it’s a start to an easy gift for birthdays, Father’s Day, Christmas, moving forward.  He loved it and has already been contributing quite a bit to his own fund! You can make a jar, get one personalized, or purchase a unique piggy bank like this one!

Sunglasses: I feel like this is one thing that my dad needs, but will never spend money on. You can get him an investment pair (like the ones I linked), or a pair from Target and gift them with swim trunks, sandals and his favorite six-pack of beer.

Personalized apron (I also like this one!): Perfect for the foodie dad that’s always grilling. Pair this with grilling utensils, his favorite beer, or both!

Bimini Ring Game: This was part of a gift basket we got for my father-in-law when he was moving to Florida and it was a huge hit. If you want to make it part of a larger gift set, add his drink of choice, sandals, the above apron (if he’s a foodie!), sunscreen and a sports cap like this one!

Duffel Bag (40 percent off right now!): This one is perfect for the dad that’s always on the go – whether he’s always traveling or frequently visits the gym. Add a portable charger (like the below!) and make sure to include $1 inside for good luck J

Portable charger: Um, I think I might get this for myself! I convenient charger that is always by your side.

Cologne: Another one of those things that you need, but never want to spend money on. Ulta often offers free gifts with fragrance purchases so check online to see if your fragrance has a special. Add a robe, face wash or shaving set (only $15!) to make the perfect wellness kit.

A few other ideas:

  • Instead of doing the usual brunch and gift exchange, spend some time out with him! For my fellow Chicagoans, consider going to the Gold Coast Art Festival, or taking him to a bar along the river with outdoor bands and games like this one! I’ve invited my dad downtown the last two Father’s Day holidays and he loves it!
  • Buy tickets to his favorite sporting game! Instead of gifting him with just the ticket, consider getting a little keepsake like a jersey, or team swag accessory. Tape the tickets to the bottom of the gift bag. When he opens the gift, he’ll think he just got the shirt and will be extra surprised to find the tickets at the bottom!
  • If he loves going to movie’s, consider paying for his Moviepass subscription. For $9.95 a month, he can go to one movie a day. Ryan and I have had this for a few months now and we love it! Check to make sure your local theater accepts the pass before purchasing.

How are you guys celebrating Father’s Day?? <3

Jo
