For the longest time, I always thought Father’s Day was in July. I just thought that the holiday gods gave us a little more time to save up after Mother’s Day and was always shocked when June came around, haha. Anyone else?!
With Father’s Day coming up in two weeks, I pulled together a quick gift guide with some of my favorite finds for dad (here is last year’s if you want even more ideas). If your dad, like mine, is more of an experience guy, here are some activities you can do with your dad in Chicago!
What are your plans for Father’s Day weekend?
XO,
Jo
Car Trunk Organizer:
My dad’s truck literally houses everything you can think of, meaning he has tools, cables, cords, hammers, all the things in the back seat of his car. Whenever we have to use his car to go somewhere, he has to remove all the items and put them in the garage. This would make it so much easier to remove for him and also keep his car extra organized (type A girl over here is all about that life).
- Plus-up: Pair with a car wash, or a gift card to the gas station!
Neck & Shoulder Heating Pad:
Whether your dad does a lot of heavy lifting at work, or has a corporate job where he sits in front of a computer all day, this gift will be a welcome addition to his routine. I mean, I might even get one of these for myself!
- Plus-up: Gift with a movie and popcorn so he can sit back, relax and enjoy some R&R.
Portable Outdoor Chair
Here’s another one from Amazon. With so many summer festivals and sporting events coming up, give dad the gift of letting him sit whenever, wherever 😊 – I know mine would love to sit back, relax and enjoy the outdoors.
- Plus-up: Gift with a case of his favorite beer, or take him downtown to one of these free festivals so he can put that chair to use and enjoy the day!
Game of Thrones Beer or Whisky Glass:
Or this legit tankgard. I know most of us are big Game of Throners, but I also know that there are dads out there who are as well! Whether it’s our own dad, a new dad, or a friend’s husband, this is the perfect, most timely gift.
- Plus-up: Pair with a drink (whiskey or case of beer), or coasters! If they’re a really big fan, you could purchase the season DVD to help them start (or finish!) their collection.
Baseball bat mug:
For the dad’s that love their baseball, this is such a unique, one-of-a-kind gift I’m sure would be a welcome addition to their sporting collection.
- Plus-up: Gift with a case of beer, a ticket to his favorite baseball game, or a portable lawn chair!
Digital Tape Measure:
This one may be a tad bit targeted for my dad, but if yours is a handy man like mine who is always looking to add the coolest new gear to his toolbox, then this is a great option!
- Plus-up: Gift with this personalized tool tote!
Personalized Wallet:
Also like this one. I think dads can always use an upgrade on their wallets. It’s one of those things that they’ll just wait until it’s falling apart to look for, and even then, they will make it work for as long as they can.
- Plus-up: I’ve mentioned this before, but make sure you add at least $1, before gifting a wallet or purse – it’s good luck! To plus it up, add in a gift card to his favorite fast food spot, coffee joint, or gas station!
Yeti Mug:
Maybe it’s just my dad, but he loves his thermos mugs and on Father’s Day he deserves the best one there is!
- Plus-up: Gift with a selection of his favorite tea, or coffee!
Personalized Apron:
How freaking cute are these?! If your dad prides himself of being the chef of the house, or the ultimate griller, this is the perfect gift. Plus, he’ll be even happier to know he has a helping hand for the day, eager to hear all his tricks! I also like this apron here.
- Plus-up: Purchase the meat for the grill, a case of beer and some spices and host a BBQ with dad!
Personalized Spatula:
I mean, I can’t even. Love this personalized spatula – goes well with the apron too, or on its own 😊
- Plus-up: Gift with the apron above, this kabob grilling basket, or with this griller package from Omaha Steaks!
Slippers:
Less pricey option here. Maybe this is a European thing, but one thing my dad can’t live without is his slippers. As soon as he gets home from work, he slides into them and doesn’t take them off until bedtime. I got him a new pair a few years ago and he was thrilled! Might be time to replace them!
- Plus-up: Pair with socks, pajama pants, or a robe! If you want to go a little bigger, you can also gift with a massage.
