One easy way to incorporate some red, white and blue into your upcoming Fourth of July festivities is to make a specialty drink! Making a custom drink is one of my favorite things to do when hosting because it’s a nice surprise for guests and offers something different than the traditional beer and wine. This easy Fourth of July cocktail has everything you need to celebrate.
The recipe is a spin on a traditional Sangria, and it’s the perfect summertime drink. It’s super easy to make, light and refreshing – perfect for the heat wave we’ve been experiencing in Chicago lately! Plus you can use any leftover fruit to make a fruit salad that guests can nibble on throughout the day (bonus tip about this at the bottom of this post). If you prefer something with a kick instead, check out my recipe for a spicy margarita!
What are some of your favorite cocktails this summer? Let me know in the comments section and if you tried this recipe, let me know what you think. I’d love to hear any twists you made to make it better!
Have a safe and happy fourth! 🇺🇸
OUTFIT: Mini Watermelon top-knot shirt // Hi-rise Jean Shorts (mine are last season, but these are similar)
Fourth of July Sangria
Yield: 6-8 servings
Prep time: 10 minutes
Total time: 10 minutes
INGREDIENTS
- Strawberries, sliced
- Blueberries
- Raspberries
- 2 bottles dry white wine (I used Chardonnay)
- 1 cup Triple Sec
- ½ cup vodka
- ½ cup fresh lemon juice
- ½ cup simple syrup
- 1 shot of blueberry juice – gives it that fun celebratory color and some refreshing flavor 😁
INSTRUCTIONS
Combine the ingredients in a large pitcher and stir. Chill in the refrigerator for at least four hours. For garnish, thread a few blueberries and strawberries onto a cocktail stirrer and place on top of each individual serving glass. I told you it was going to be an easy Fourth of July cocktail!
Bonus tip: If you like cherries like I do but don’t want to deal with the pits, poke a straw through the middle of them to remove. It’s a little messy, but worth it in my opinion!
