Easy DIY Floral Photo Backdrop

Today I’m sharing a quick and easy DIY project inspired by all the sweet Valentine’s Day décor that’s everywhere right now – a floral photo backdrop! It’s quick, easy and requires minimal materials, which you guys know I’m all about 😁

What I love most about this DIY Valentine’s decor is all the different ways it can be used – teachers can use it to decorate their classrooms and give their students a fun photo opp (after class of course!), you can use it as a centerpiece for your Galentine’s Day brunch, or as a garland to decorate your mirror, or fireplace. And while it’s great for Valentine’s Day, it can work for just about any celebration – birthday’s, bridal and baby showers, summer parties and of course, bachelor viewing parties – just switch up the type of florals you use!

Three tips before you get started:

  • Keep in mind that if your using this as a photo backdrop, the roses on the bottom likely won’t be as visible as the top/middle pieces, so if you’re running low on product, I’d prioritize adhering the roses and leaves to top half of the twine.
  • I didn’t have these on hand, but if you want to elevate the photo backdrop even more, I recommend getting heart-shape plates, or dollies to cover the top of the twine. This will help hide the tape and bring out the vibrant colors of the roses. You can also scatter these around the sides and in between the garlands to make the backdrop fuller.
  • I created four, separate pieces of twine, but you can alter the number of roses you purchase dependent on your need.

Instructions

Cut the twine to your desired length (I held mine up to the wall to determine how long I wanted to make it).

Cut all the flowers and a couple of the leaves about 2-inches from the top of the stem and set aside.

Lay your twine out and tightly double knot the first flower in place. Make sure the knot is secure otherwise the roses will fall off once you hang the finished product in place.

Spacing out the next knot about 1 to 2-inches, tightly double knot the leaf bundle in place.

Continue alternating your roses and leaves, spacing them out accordingly, until you reach the end of the twine.

Once you’ve completed your desired number of twine rows, adhere the twine to the wall, or your desired photo backdrop area and start snapping away!
