One of the only treats I make during the holidays that has quickly become a fan-favorite among my work buddies – Puppy Chow! It is quite possibly THE easiest snack to make (if you haven’t noticed, we’re all
about easy recipes over here 😁), makes for a great coworker holiday gift, and a great gift for teachers, neighbors and friends as well.
The best part is that you can make it in bulk and gift about 10 people with one batch. You can find puppy chow recipes everywhere nowadays – I follow the one on Chex.com, but make a few adjustments, like increasing the peanut butter amount a bit because we’re major PB lovers in this house. If puppy chow isn’t your jam, you can swap the chow for Pumpkin Spice Pecans (easy recipe here) instead!
This treat can get messy, so presentation is key. My go-to way of gifting this is to put it in mason jars and dress it up like a snow man. All you need is some hot glue, buttons and pretty ribbon and voila!
You can also gift this as a hostess gift for upcoming festivities. Buy a cute bowl and include the homemade puppy chow within, or put it in a mug and gift with cozy socks!
What’s your take on a coworker holiday gift? What’s the best coworker holiday gift you’ve ever received?

Holiday Puppy Chow
Yield: Approximately 15 jars
Prep time: 10 minutes
Chill time: 30 minutes
Total time: 40 minutes
Ingredients
9 cups of Chex Mix cereal (I usually buy the gluten-free version in case of allergies)
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
¾ cup peanut butter
¼ cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 ½ cups of powdered sugar
Red and green colored M&M’s
Instructions
Pour the cereal in a large mixing bowl and set aside. Place the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter in a medium microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Remove the bowl from the microwave and stir. Put the bowl back into the microwave and heat for an additional 30 seconds or until mixture is smooth when stirred. Add the vanilla extract and stir again.
Add the chocolate peanut butter mixture into the cereal bowl and stir until cereal is evenly coated (this may take a few minutes). Pour the coated cereal into a large Ziploc bag and add the powdered sugar. Seal the bag and shake until the cereal is well coated. Store in fridge for a few hours to cool and pour in jars, alternating spoonful’s of puppy chow and M&M’s. Keep in airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
I remember when you made this for the team! I ate all mine and part of Stephanie’s in one day. 🙂
