Today is my 30th birthday. Wow, does time fly! I’ve realized that the older you get, the more you want to slow time down. To be completely honest, I’ve had major anxiety about this day for the last few months. It’s such a milestone birthday and for me, all I can think about is how I should have met certain goals by now, or I look back and wish I made different choices (like starting this blog back in college!), but what my friends, family and even you all have helped me realize over the last few days, is that age is just a number. It doesn’t define you. There is still so much more to look forward to, so many memories to make, goals to accomplish and new ones to put in place.
So today, I’m living in the moment and celebrating everything I’ve learned over the last thirty years and all the people, experiences and little things that have helped mold me to who I am today. For those who are new around here, I thought this would be the perfect time to share 30 facts about me so we can get to know each other a little bit better 😁
- I’m 100 percent Polish! Both my parents were born in Poland and although I was not, I spent most of my childhood there.
- I have two, beautiful sisters – Angelika and Gabby. Both have a knack for creativity. In fact, Angelika has written a guest post about one of her cute gifts that she gifted to my niece’s teachers!
- Which brings me to my next fact – I’M OBSESSED WITH MY NIECE, BEVERLY!!
- Ryan and I went to the same high school but didn’t know each other, then ended up at the same college and became best friends ❤️
- I’m a natural blonde. Like Elle Woods blonde. I know it’s crazy, you probably can’t picture it, but it’s true! I dyed it brown in college and never looked back!
- My favorite holiday is Easter! I love the morning breakfast with my family (it brings me back to Easters in Poland), the egg decorating, the light pastel colors – everything. Mostly, I love that unlike Christmas, it’s about spending time with one another without the stresses of gifts and a perfectly decorated house (although my mom is the queen of table settings).
- I’m a little too obsessed with TV shows. I watch everything from Real Housewives to Stranger Things and The Bold Type to all the CW shows. My favorite shows right now are Riverdale and The Bold Type (which is coming back in a few weeks!).
- True life: I’m a shopaholic. It’s a problem, but at least I can admit it, right? I love scouring the web for deals. Some of my favorite places to shop are Nordstrom, Red Dress Boutique, Vici, Lulu’s, American Eagle and Old Navy!
- I speak, write and read fluently in Polish.
- My sisters and I took Polish school every Saturday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. from age six to our senior year of high school. My mom is a Polish school teacher so there was no skimping out on those Saturdays – we had to go!
- We also had to take our ACT’s in Polish in order to graduate. So, yes, if you’re wondering, we took them in English and Polish… all in the same year. We were thrilled when we graduated to say the least!
- My favorite season is summer! Yes, everyone loves fall and all the cozy clothes that come with it, but summer fashion is so much better. Plus, is there anything better than laying by the beach or pool all day? I think not.
- Another reason I love summer? I’m ALWAYS cold. Like 72 degrees is TOO cold for me. Anyone else?
- I’m dairy-free! I wrote a blog post about it here, but I found out about a year and a half ago and went completely dairy-free in October. I’ve never felt better!
- I was in the Miss Teen USA pageant my freshman year of high school and sang “Leave, Get Out” by JoJo. My parents fully supported this decision despite the fact that I have zero singing ability and they were the first to stand up and clap after I finished my solo, a cappella performance on stage. I left my singing career on the stage that day and never looked back, haha!
- In high school, my favorite class was tech, because I got to be the “morning show anchor” of the student announcements.
- Also, stemming from that class, a few of my classmates and I did a spoof of “The Office” in which I played Pam. The director and videographer sent our tape to the actual producers/actors of “The Office” and we got flown out to LA to the set of the show where we met all the actors and saw a taping of the show. It was the highlight of my high school experience!
- I was a swimmer in high school and my favorite stroke was the breast stroke.
- I went to college at DePaul University with three of my best friends from high school and ended up rooming with one of them for three years. Despite what people say about rooming with your friends, we’re still friends to this day 😁
- I’ve always wanted to move to California or New York, but can’t imagine being that far away from my parents who I see almost every other week.
- I love coffee, mostly for the taste. My go-to is a Starbucks Grande blonde roast with vanilla and two packets of brown sugar.
- I’m also a huge sushi lover and once ate it four days in a row. My go to is the spicy tuna roll and the rainbow roll – so good!
- My favorite work-out is The Barre Code, although lately I’ve been wanting to try Orange Theory.
- Like most, I love to travel. My favorite destinations so far have been Italy (specifically Sorrento and Amalfi Coast – we’ve been there twice!) and Paris.
- I love macaroons – I ate a whole box in one day once.
- My favorite color is blue.
- I hate roller-coasters, but love going to theme parks for the excitement and environment. I use to stand in long lines with everyone, hold their things and then enjoy all the hot dogs and funnel cakes afterwards (before my dairy allergy!).
- I don’t have any dogs (yet), but I really want a mini Goldendoodle or a Cavapoo.
- I’m extremely competitive and LOVE to play pranks on people (April Fool’s is coming up, hehe).
- I have an irrational fear of butterflies! I don’t know why, but they really creep me out!
And now, it’s your turn! Share something about you in the comments section below – I love getting to know you guys!
