You guys, I can’t believe Thanksgiving is next week! Is it just me, or does time fly even quicker as you get older?
So, here’s a fun fact about my family: We didn’t celebrate Thanksgiving until a few years ago. Since it’s not a holiday that’s celebrated in Poland, we grew up observing it the same as any other day. That is, until Ryan, a big fan of turkey, came into the picture. After the initial shock wore off, he sat me and my sisters down and decided he was going to help us start a new family tradition. And he did 😁 Now, every year, Ryan, my sisters and I, are in charge of cooking Thanksgiving dinner for our parents and let me tell you, they LOVE it!
I’m not going to lie, it’s a lot of work and probably the only time of year I’m actually productive in the kitchen 😁 I like to think it makes up for the rest of the year.
One of my favorite things about adopting this holiday is getting to decorate the table for the delicious feast! I’ve included some affordable Thanksgiving tablescape ideas and décor below (most of which are currently on sale!) for inspiration. If you only want to get three items, I’d recommend grabbing the following as they’ll make your guests feel like you put in the most effort:
- Placemats, table runner or tablecloth: I learned this one from my mom. She ALWAYS has at least one of these on the table come the holidays (almost always all three!). Think of it as dressing up the table for the celebration. Your outfit will be in theme for the holiday and so should your table’s 😁 For fall, go for the brown, burgundy, forest green, mustard yellow and burnt orange colors.
- Centerpiece: I included several centerpiece options here – from a garland to loose leaves and acorns that you can scatter across the table (you can also fill a clear hurricane candle holder with these), and festive wall decor that can be repurposed for your dining room. Think of these as your accessories, they help bring together your festive look bringing out the holiday spirit.
- Place cards: Making place cards for your guests shows that you put thought into not only the overall table setting, but also into your guests. Cute place card holders that are in theme with the holiday help elevate the look of your table. If you don’t want to buy holders, consider repurposing your centerpiece décor for place cards, like the loose leaves or acorns.
I’ll also be sharing our Thanksgiving shopping list, a fun recipe, hostess gift and a cute outfit throughout the rest of the week so make sure to follow along 😁
Do you have any fun Thanksgiving traditions with your family? I’d love to hear about them!

You have so many great ideas, I love this post! My husband and I are actually going camping for Thanksgiving this year so it will be so weird not setting up for it!
